I bought this about 2 years ago. The first few months they had to replace the touch control panel. Then last year they had to replace the motherboard and the touch control panel. Needless to say the touch control panel is still not working properly. I will never buy from this manufacturer again.

Beautiful finish, easy care, nice divisions

Good inside layout; inaudible alarm

Bought Electrolux again only because it matched the other existing Electrolux appliances already in my kitchen. The original Electrolux refrigerator died after only 5 years - a short and a troubled life. The new one works well enough (it's new) so far but we note several things. The open-door and power failure alarm is a great feature which we came to appreciate on the first one. The new unit has it too, but the volume is too low to hear the alram unless you are standing right by the fridge with no other background sounds. Darned near worthless, and can't be turned up or down. We listened to the demo unit in the store - same story, so it's a design issue. After endless trouble with the ice/water in the door on the last one, we went ice-only in the freezer section. It works well enough, but is somewhat noisy. As other reviewers have said, it sometimes dispenses ice onto the floor if the bucket has gotten full. After trying various things, I simply turn the ice maker off when it gets full, and back on again when it gets low. Not too bad, and the ice gets used up instead of getting to be that frozen clump in the bottom of the bucket, so I don't really mind doing it. Fit and finish of the unit are good, and the interior lighting is very nice. If I knew this unit would last, I would rate it a bit higher, but the last one was all style and not much function. The fridge itself is very quiet, which is nice, and the doors work much better than the last one, so I'll end on the positives. I'd also note that other makers all have problems, too. Whatever happened to refrigerators which lasted 15 years? The Electrolux is expensive - I rate it low based on life and value for money spent, but the competitors aren't much better - just less expensive.

Defective ice maker

We bought this Electrolux 3 years ago because it has features that are really useful. But the ice maker started working erratically, and eventually stopped functioning altogether. I read that this was a frequent problem and repair would be very costly so we just use plastic ice trays now. Very disappointed.
